Eric Bailly poses in front of Aon training complex as he nears return

Manchester United fans will be happy to see a seemingly fit again Eric Bailly posing in front of the club’s training facilities given the defensive weaknesses of late.

It’s safe to say in the last fixture against Bournemouth, sturdier defending wouldn’t have allowed Joshua King to take his time in the penalty box to net the winner.

The previously praised Victor Lindelof has looked far from his best this season as he’s constantly been beaten in the air and can be accused of having poor positioning.

His sudden drop in form couple with United failing to see anywhere near the best of record defensive signing Harry Maguire has left Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scratching his head.

The legendary Norwegian has certainly improved his side’s defensive shape as they have looked more solid than in the past but errors in the backline have constantly costed him points this season.

Perhaps Bailly’s return for injury will help spark a competitiveness in the Red Devils’ backline once more and inspire both Lindelof and Maguire to better form.

Perhaps the pair feel their places in the starting XI aren’t ever really in threat and if the aggressive Ivorian can remain fit he is the most likely player to challenge them.
