Manchester United insists Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will not be sacked any time soon – report

Manchester United have briefed sources that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under no threat of losing his job, according to The Athletic.

The manager came under enormous scrutiny following Man United’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa – a game that was largely dominated by the visitors.

Such a result leaves United ninth in the table and with the unwelcome record of four Premier League wins from 14 games.

However, according to journalist Daniel Taylor, United have made it very clear that Solskjaer will not lose his job any time soon, regardless of Mauricio Pochettino being available.

United should, in this writer’s view, at least wait until the summer to make any real decisions.

The club was criticised for deciding to appoint Solskjaer in March, when they should have waited until the summer, and you would have to blame them if they decided to pull the trigger midway through this season as well. You cannot have it both ways.

Things do not look good at the moment – really bad, actually – but Solskjaer deserves, at the very least, to be given until May to see how the team plays, how results are, etc. If nothing has tangibly improved, then you could understand United deciding to part ways with the Norwegian.
