Manchester United facing competition from four major clubs for Christian Eriksen in January – report

by Leo Nieboer

Manchester United are set to face competition from several major clubs for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen in January, according to a report.

The midfielder is expected to leave Spurs after refusing to pen a new contract with the North London club over the summer.

Eriksen will be therefore free to speak with other clubs in January ahead of leaving the club next summer.

According to 90min, however, United are interested in doing a deal for Eriksen next month, but they are not alone.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and Bayern Munich are all said to have also expressed a keen interest in doing a deal in January for Eriksen, who could be available for around £40.

Spurs are said to be open to the prospect of dispensing with Eriksen in January in order to avoid seeing the player leave on a free transfer next summer.

United’s interest in Eriksen dates back to the summer, during which Madrid also pursued the player closely. It is thought that the Bernabeu serves as the Denmark international’s ideal destination.
