Peter Schmeichel has singled out Daniel James as the fantastic signing of the summer despite the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire coming in as well.
The sensational Welshman joined Manchester United as the least high-profile signing of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s three transfers yet has surprised many by his brilliant performances.
Joining from Swansea, not a lot was expected from James yet he’s quickly established himself as a crucial part of a devastating front three.
Reports had previously emerged of Solskjaer’s surprise at how quickly the pacy winger adjusted to life at Old Trafford as he was expecting it to take a season or two.
Schmeichel though, didn’t focus on Maguire or Wan-Bissaka and instead lauded James who has notched up three goals and four assists in the Premier League this season.
Schmeichel: “He (James) was unbelievable, chasing every ball, he was in every counter-attack and, at the same time, he was doubling up with Wan-Bissaka on the right-hand side. He's played every single game this season and he's still playing well. Fantastic signing.” #MUFC [PLP] pic.twitter.com/2pR8OqTnGN

Solskjaer has himself been heavily impressed by James, even labelling him as the best defensive winger in the world for his incredible work-rate, stamina and defensive cover.
The 22 year old consistently pressures his opponents and helps his own full-back, who is normally Wan-Bissaka, whilst still managing to be a threat on the other end of the field.
Signed for an estimated £15m, James is in contention for being the bargain signing of the Premier League this season.
