Bruno Fernandes beats teammates in wide range of statistics

Statistics revealed today show that there is one player whose current contribution for Manchester United is head and shoulders above those of his teammates.

Statman Dave has been comparing figures for progressive passes, passes into the box, chances created, shots, tackles won, goals and assists and has found the same name at the top of every list.

Bruno Fernandes.

In addition to his five goals and three assists, the Portuguese international has made an incredible 58 progressive passes, 21 into the box. He has also created 20 chances and won 16 tackles.

It is the last of those figures that is arguably the most impressive. Playing as an attacking midfielder or number 10, to have registered the most tackles of the entire team โ€“ ahead of all the defenders and defensive midfielders โ€“ is an astonishing statistic.

The fact that the 26-year-old is averaging more than one goal involvement per game โ€“ eight from seven โ€“ is also an incredible achievement.

The figures underline Fernandesโ€™ influence on the team, which cannot be understated. The Red Devils averaged just 1.41 points per Premier League game last season before he joined from Sporting Lisbon. That average improved to 2.29 points per game after his arrival.

United have had some world class goalkeepers over the years and some entertaining ones too. Take our quiz below to find out how much you know about United’s number 1’s, past and present.
