Arsenal admit selling Robin van Persie to Manchester United was a mistake
Alisher Usmanov, the second majority stake holder in Arsenal behind Stan Kroenke, has admitted that it was a mistake to let Robin van Persie join Manchester United from Arsenal in the summer.
Robin van Persie joining Manchester United from Arsenal still hasn’t sunk in really. It’s the football transfer equivalent of admiring your friends wife for years only for her to then turn up on your doorstep in love with you after listening to the little girl inside of her.
Since his arrival, Manchester United have not stopped scoring. 43 goals in 17 games in the league alone and Robin van Persie has netted 12 himself, with Arsenal languishing 15 points behind already.
Arsenal have struggled to be clinical in van Persie’s absence. Speaking to CNBC in America, Usmanov said: ”This decision [losing Van Persie] was a mistake.
“If I am one of Wenger’s I would want to stay for the finish, but he explained Robin wanted to go to win trophies.”
Our attack is looking as strong, if not stronger, than the double winning strike force in 2008 of Tevez, Rooney, Ronaldo and Berbatov. The spearhead of van Persie backed up by the world class Rooney with Hernandez and Welbeck waiting in the wings for any opportunity – it’s a lethal foursome on paper and in reality.
At £24 million, eyebrows were raised whether it was a fair price for a 29-year-old injury prone striker with only one year left on his contract. Those doubts have been well and truly put to bed and it isn’t even January. Arsenal’s loss is Manchester United’s gain.

Tyoical annoying misleading headline. ARSENAL have admitted no such thing. A shareholde has voiced his opinion.
A moot point but Usmanov isn’t Arsenal and cannot and doesn’t speak for Arsenal Football Club. He doesn’t sit on the board and holds no position of any authority. He is just one of our minority shareholders. There’s no such thing as a ‘second majority’. Anyone who doesn’t have a majority of the shares has a minority. Having said that nobody at Arsenal would have wanted to sell RvP to anyone. The fact that we did was more of an acceptance that we couldn’t do anything about it any more than ManU could do anything about having to sell Ronaldo to Real Madrid.

The manager arsen wenger and the entire board should be blamed for selling arsenal stars every season, the lack leadership qualities, the worst is selling rvp to man united, no replacement, is a shame, shareholders are not good enough to manage arsenal, go can’t go to tottenham and buy their best players, if nothing is done come January i fear top four will be a thing of the past
