Ferguson feels United youngsters Powell and Januzaj “are at the top”
Nick Powell and Adnan Januzaj have been singled out for praise by Sir Alex Ferguson and Warren Joyce after a succession of impressive performances by both players for Manchester United’s U21′s.
The young duo, who are both aged just 18, were instrumental in United’s 2-0 victory over West Ham on Wednesday night, with Powell bagging both goals and Januzaj pulling the strings in his advanced midfield role.
And speaking to Inside United, Sir Alex was full of praise for both players: ”Adnan is a beautifully balanced player,” the 71-year-old said of the young Belgian.
“He’s only 18 and still to grow into his frame. But he has good balance, good acceleration and he’s a very good technical player.
“He and Nick, of the younger players, are at the top. They’re very good.
“Nick has had a few injuries and has had a bit of bad luck so we feel Carrington is the best place for him at the moment [rather than sending him out on loan].
“That way, we can work on bringing him on physically and preparing him for next season.”
Reserves boss Warren Joyce was also complimentary of the talented pair: “Nick’s got talent,” he told ManUtd.com.
“He can play anywhere on a football pitch as he’s got really good ability.
“Adnan is still developing but there’s no doubt he’s got talent too. He’s got a good footballing brain and a good touch.
“We’re trying to get him stronger and fitter and he’s getting to know the Manchester United style of play as well.
“He’s grown up a certain way and I think he has had a tremendous education over in Belgium. He’s come over here with good technique and is desperate to be a footballer as well so he’s got a lot of things going for him.”
Both players look like they have all the makings to go the whole way to the top. Nick Powell has already made his first team debut this season and with Januzaj rapidly moving through the academy ranks, a first team appearance might be in the pipeline for him next season.

The real top one is Pogba and our great (very)old manager managed to get rid of him. Not sure SAF is talking about League1 or Champo’s top….SAF’s catastrophic transfer deals in 2011 ( Young, De Gea, Jones, Smalling ) resulted in a mediocre team that won nothing in 2011-12 and threatening to do the same again. Just why SAF is still Utd manager is beyond millions of Utd fans globally. Under him and with this team, Utd won’t win CL anytime soon. And now he’s after Rooney…Isn’t there any check and balance at Utd or SAF is the emperor? Some say yes, the emperor with no clothes on…as was in the story…
Shit for brains J or simply pretending to be a United fan or both?
I’ll just add to that Big D…. Knob.
1 word for u IGNORANT
the ´J´ above is for the 1st name of the one who missed the 5 th roubles´ pen in moscow, right??
Young – squad player level at UTD at the very least, De Gea – world class GK – he was that last year & he is among top 3/4 GKs in the world atm (know his age? you probably DON´T but you shall check his personal data at your Footy Manager PC game!!!), Jones (squad player at UTD atm – to be in the 1st 11 regulary within next 2 seasons, Smalling – squad player level at UTD at the very least)
So, you are either blue – i.e. shite, or light blue – worse then a shite … or scouse & not worth any words! Btw: why shall SAF let all the agents screw our club … what Nasri´s tried as well as Pogba´s?
j pretty much every point you make the complete opposite is true. must be another typical bitter bertie obsessed with superior mufc. forever in our shadow
