Anyone still have faith in Fred?

Do you think there is any hope that Fred will come good at Man United? He looked an amazing box-to-box player at Shakhtar. We see glimpses of that now and again but then he drifts back into mediocrity. Is that because the team's playing bad (team confidence affecting him)? Or is he just not able to adapt to the pace of the Premier League? Or is it just another Sanchez/Di Maria type "bad fit" signing?

I was really hoping for a 'new beginning', so to speak, for him this season. We saw glimpses of what he could do, towards the end of last season and I was optimistic about him coming in to this season.
Him missing preseason for his wedding surely hasn't helped that progression and I'd not be surprised if the staff members and players are hugely annoyed with him missing all the hard work of preseason for a wedding. It's on him now to prove to the others that he is good and dedicated enough. As long as he is wearing a United shirt I will support him and hope he comes good, but I'm not seeing it now.

I never really rated Fred but considering Ander Herera leaving; i was hoping he would come good. I guess we have to wait and see; i prefer Pereira in the mildfield than Fred

Before the season I backed him to be one of the biggest improvers like Lindelof in his second year. Yeah...he's proven me completely wrong so far.

I actually think he contributes more than McTominay. Just wish he'd learn not to give away stupid free kicks around the box. How hard can it be to learn not to put your foot in in that area? I want to see more of him and Garner. Not convinced by Andreas as a CM and McSauce needs to do more to show me he's not just the next Darren Fletcher.

Everything from the speculation has been wrong. I had zero expectations and not surprised in the slightest. (I hate that I have a near-perfect record on predicting players that eventually miss it!).

Sadly I don't think he'll come good because the team is at a really turbulent moment that such good players like DeGea and Pogba are struggling. It takes mental strength to make it at ManUtd especially now that everyone is laughing at the club. Anyway who knows, he might turn the corner but I have low expectations of him.

It could be that Fred is trying too hard to impress, and we all know that things invariably go wrong when you do that.
My own personal jury is still out but i am prepared to give him a little more time.

If that’s the case then predict rashford and garner, Fred would be ok in system around a 433 and 352 , his no holder and has no patience hence his failure so far in mourinho United and current United , I say woe to the people who sign players that a coach can’t use . So if we continue on this system of play yup flop , if we switch and quicken everything we do , from Harry maguire releasing passes quicker to him receiving it a little higher and others making a move you’ll see a more dynamic Fred .

Like I said, everything surrounding his transfer was all wrong, and for some reason, many United fans are desperate for some hope and begin manufacturer ifs to facilitate it.

  1. "He went to the WC with Brazil" - Yet could not get anywhere near a line up that included Paulinho and Augusto. This, "he's Brazilian" hype needs to die. Even Andreas was vying for a spot in the selecao.
  2. "He was great for SD had a great game against City" - Another over inflated claim. He was nowhere amongst the key player in that team. And the game against City, and PSG? Good, but the euphoria has just bumped it to great!
  3. "But City wanted him". Apparently. As with Sanchez. It's only common sense to investigate a player that had a decent game against you. Like we did apparently did after 16 year old Matteson had a blinder against us. We just got suckered into some rumors and fell for it.
  4. "He's still new to league" - How long will this go on? He's a 26 year old footballer, not coming from the MLS or the IPL. While I agree, he needs to adapt to the life style, a football is still a football and sometimes you'd think he's a competition winner.
  5. "Not his fault he was signed" - the only valid excuse I can have for him, especially with recent news. But that does not mean that he would magically turn out great.
  6. "He needs a certain kind of tactic" - you've got to be something special, beyond basic at least to be afforded such privileges. He's so inconsistent it's unbelievable! He goes from doing a good thing, to making 3 errors in 90 seconds.
He may be good somewhere else but I don't see him cutting it in this league unfortunately. It's just too quick for him physically and technically. He's come in for >£50m, and won't be afforded the time that as you'd get for a McTominay. He's a big money signing, yet we still need 2 starting CM + Pogba.

He looks terrible man . Looks Like he's another one who can't handle the shirt

He was my one hope to saving United this season. I really believed that a midfield of McTominay Fred and Pogba with the latter pushed on would be a midfield to battle with, I was wrong. The guy just hasn't got it. We need another midfielder in there fast or we are going to continue to struggle

Just had a long chat with Andy Mitten and we talked about Fred quite a bit. Word off the record from people he spoke to when the move happened was that the people around him were happy he got the move but didn't think he was good enough to play for United.
