Manchester United loan watch – Progress report

Reece Brown played the full 90 minutes for Coventry City during their first League win of the season. Although it was a very scrappy game, Coventry City came out on top after an 89^th minute goal from McDonald. (Funny thing is, the official Coventry City website only mentions ten players in their match-review. Reece Brown being the 11^th player).

John Cofie came on as an 85^th minute substitute for Sheffield United in their 1-1 draw with Notts County. John Cofie saw his competitor, Dave Kitson, net his first goal of the season. Although, coming on as a 85^th minute substitute he had the last chance of the game to score for the Blades but headed wide from a McMahon cross.

Ben Amos played the full 90 minutes for Hull City as they lost at home for the first time this season. Ben Amos was on alert to make his first save of the afternoon on 11 minutes, keeping Sinclair’s low shot out with his legs after the striker had out-paced the defence.  But he conceded 2 goals in the space of five minutes. 0-2 was the score line with which the Tigers started the second half.

At the start of the second half, Ben Amos made a big save to deny Sinclair his hat-trick before Chester made a vital interception when a third goal looked a cert for the visitors.  But he couldn’t deny Peterborough their 3^rd goal of the day and the game finished 1-3, a very disappointing day for the Tigers and Ben Amos.

Former Red and Hull City manager Steve Bruce on the game: “It was one of them awful games, we were punished for individual errors.

“You can’t make the mistakes we did, individual mistakes on the first and second. We were littered with bad ones.”

Luke Giverin and Gyliano van Velzen both featured for Royal Antwerp. Giverin played in midfield, whereas van Velzen was part of a three man front line. Early on in the game, Giverin’s had a well taken free kick denied by the Brussels keeper. But he supplied the assist for Royal Antwerp’s first goal of the game. 20 minutes into the second half, another Royal Antwerp attack, with both Giverin and van Velzen involved, ended up with van Velzen scoring from close range. Van Velzen was subbed after 77 minutes, whereas Giverin played the full 90 minutes in this 2-0 home win for Royal Antwerp.
