I write for leading Burnley FC blog No Nay Never (nonaynever.net).
We’ve lead the way in news, comment and analysis of the current manager vacancy with more content than anybody else and I’m following an interesting line on Warren Joyce and his position at Manchester United.
He has been strongly linked with the job at Turf Moor as a former Claret and indications are strong that he is among our final shortlist of four to be decided between this week.
I notice this morning that Nicky Butt is working with the reserve team – is there any indication in Manchester that this could be in preparation for Joyce’s possible departure?
Thanks in advance.

An interesting thought, something I hadn’t put any consideration into. As far as I was aware, Owen Coyle was looking odds on to rejoin Burnley at the helm but considering his ex links with Burnley, I suppose you can’t rule Warren Joyce out.
Nicky Butt coming back and helping with the reserves is a great thing. It is always good for the youngsters to have players like Butt come and talk to them about his experiences. Considering he came through the youth team and worked his way up to the first team, he knows better than most what it takes.
It is not as if we haven’t had ex players managing the reserves before either. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer managed them previously (to success as well), so you can’t rule it out.
Saying that, as far as I am aware Joyce is happy at United. We’ve got a great set of reserve players and with Powell and Henriquez being brought in, it has only got stronger.
The Peoples Person,
