PICTURE: Spain team-mate tells Thiago ‘See you in Manchester’

by Sam Peoples

Thiago Alcantara walked away with the match ball yesterday after his text book hat-trick guided Spain’s U21s to European glory with a comfortable 4-2 victory over Italy.

His team-mates all signed the ball and in a great bit of detective work from @CheGiaevara after receiving a tip off, it seems someone left Thiago a little Manchester message on the ball.

One scribble read ‘Nos vemos in Manchester’ which translates directly as ‘See you in Manchester’.

David_de_Gea_FramedWas it David De Gea? Taking a closer look at the handwriting, possibly. As pointed out @ybthebest, the ‘W’ in the framed picture is strikingly similar to the ‘N’ and ‘V’ written on the scribbled message. This is taking investigative journalism to a whole new level.

Was it Isco ahead of a potential move to Manchester City? Your guess is as good as mine but every day, a new piece on the transfer Thiago pops up. Of course, the message may well have been tongue-in-cheek but United fans will certainly hope not.

Barcelona are desperate to hold onto their star youngster but ahead of the 2014 World Cup, he clearly wants game time to force his way into the Spain squad.

And on last night’s performance in the final, who can blame him?
