Nemanja Vidic absence confirmed as precautionary

by Sam Peoples

He was just feeling a bit tight round about his knee and we decided just to give him a break today. Hopefully he’ll be alright next week.” Sir Alex Ferguson

When news broke before kick-off today that NemanjaVidic wouldn’t be playing, I admittedly buried my face in my hands. However, as it turned out, it worked out for the best.

Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans were superb in keeping Liverpool at bay and Sir Alex has now confirmed that the absence of Vidic was merely precautionary and that he might be in line to come back next weekend against Tottenham Hotspur.

Although Vidic has not been at his best since returning from his long lay off, we need him fit. Rio Ferdinand limped through a lot of the game at Anfield and might not be fit in time for the Tottenham Hotspur game.

The last thing we want is Michael Carrick filling in as a make shift centre back again with long term absentees Phil Jones and Chris Smalling still on the sidelines.

With more game time, it shouldn’t be too much longer before Nemanja returns to his world class best. The sooner the better, but he needs to get a hair cut first.
