Summer Ball ‘Bonanza’

Summer Ball ‘Bonanza’

Another year has passed and the annual Summer Ball has come around yet again for Essex students and in what is no surprise, disappointment is pouring out of all orifices before tickets even go on sale! Considering the headline acts of the past 2 years have been the Wombats in 2009 and Roll Deep in 2010, nobody was expecting anything massive.

In a sort of saving grace, Chase & Status have been booked as the headline act performing a DJ set whilst they are on a world tour for their new album ‘No More Idols’. Although not everybody will see this as a saving grace, at least someone I enjoy listening to will be at the Summer Ball on the year I finally choose to make an appearance.

Of course, Chase & Status will not be the only performance on the night. Have a look below for the rest of the lineup:

  • Scott Mills (Radio 1 DJ)

  • Frisky & Mannish (They sound like terrible pornstars…)

  • Get Capea Wear Cape Fly (DJ Set)

  • Tellison (Live)

  • Blisted Pearl (Live)

  • Dan Flay (Live)

  • Few Against Many (Live)

  • Alex Wastnidge (Live)

  • DJ Dave Johnson

  • Evie & Roderic

  • DJ Wasty

  • Seani B (Radio 1Xtra DJ)

  • Live Linq (Choice FM)

  • Quincy (Choice FM)

  • DJ Nimblefingerz (Fabric)

  • Kapital (TakeOver)

  • Jay Jay (GoodTimezUK)

  • DJ Nibby

  • UKS

  • Swoosh

  • DJ Carlos

If you are anywhere as disappointed as I am on the overall collection of artists then you would be considering not going, especially when you realise the prices are £43 for students and £48 for guests! I always said that I would go to at least 1 out of the 3 Summer Ball’s whilst I was at University so I feel contractually obliged to attend. It is a shame that the University hasn’t put more effort in securing a better line-up but as long as they don’t ruin the End extravaganza like they did last year, I really won’t care because it is the closest I am going to get to a top quality street party without having to get on a plane and fly to Rio de Janeiro.
