Prior to being called away to the Asian Cup in January, Park Ji Sung was an absolutely integral part of the United set-up. With 23 appearances and 7 goals this season, he has not played as much football as he would of wanted to but the football he has played, he has always shown the fire and passion that has made him a favourite with the fans. Always known for his uncanny ability to literally run around all game in a superhuman fashion, Park has always found himself overshadowed and unappreciated in the line-up.
This season however, and rightfully so, he has stepped into the limelight for his performances. The Asian Cup robbed us of Park for a long time and his start against Chelsea was his first game at Old Trafford since Boxing Day but he has come back at the perfect time. His involvement in the 3 victories against Chelsea in the past month have shown us all just how great a team player he is and his humility seems boundless, even on the pitch, as time and time again I see him apologising for even losing possession. He is a real gem and his relationship with Evra makes you realise as a fan how important it is for friendships to emerge in teams to create that relationship that breeds winning football. He is a credit to all that he does and I look forward to seeing his prime years as a footballer now that he has chosen to retire from international football and put all his time and effort into United.
Long live Park Ji ‘3 Lung’ Sung.
