Manchester United win the FAYC

by Sam Peoples

The youth team has tonight secured the FA Youth Cup after a 4-1 victory over Sheffield United tonight at Old Trafford. The first leg ended 2-2 and the match was poised tightly for this second leg. United were not at their fluent best but a brace from Morrison and Keane secured the victory which was the first time that Manchester United have won the FA Youth Cup since 2003. Morrison has been in the limelight recently for his behaviour off the pitch but he proved tonight why SAF has tried his utmost to give Morrison a plethora of opportunities and chances to redeem himself. Considered one of the best talents that the youth academy has ever produced, only time will tell if he can curb his off-the-pitch antics and emerge into the first team at United.

Alongside Morrison, Paul Pogba was one of the stand out performers in this years campaign and has everything needed to be a great player for United and I am definitely looking forward to seeing him break through into the first team. With Hargreaves not having his contract renewed and Giggs and Scholes coming to the twilight of their careers, this youth squad looks like it has the resources to pump great talent into the team squad from within. The future is bright…the future is red! Take a look below for highlights of the match.
