Berbatov: I am going nowhere

by Sam Peoples

Berbatov celebrates with the team after scoring his bicycle kick against Liverpool this season

After having his best season he signed for United in 2008, Berbatov has today formally announced that he has no intention of leaving Manchester United and will at the very least see out his contract which is set to expire next Summer. Great news to wake up to. I admit, I have voiced my opinion about Berbatov over the years and have not always been his biggest admirer but I have been swooned by the Bulgarian’s unrivalled ability and character this season. He fully deserves the golden boot this season and I hope he can hold onto his confidence and form for next season as the best United squads have always seen strength in depth up front. Take 1999 for example with the fabled four of Cole, Yorke, Solskjaer and Sheringham. Fast forward 12 years to Rooney, Berbatov, Hernandez and Owen and we find that we have such a great squad that the talks about this team not being as good as predecessors is just plain ignorant. I look forward to seeing what the Godfather can do next season and hope he can help the push for the magical 20th title.
