Manchester United dominate team of the decade

by Sam Peoples

As voted for by the Premier League managers, Manchester United have come up trumps in the team of the decade. Out of 11 players chosen, 6 have affiliation with Manchester United over the previous decade. This is just another deserved accolade for United as they have dominated the 2000’s on route to securing 19 English League titles overall. The Premier League saw some fantastic talent and memories from the decade and such is the quality of the players that have graced the Premier League, we have seen names such as Henry, Keane and Lampard have been omitted from the list.

United also scooped the prize for collective team of the decade for their 2007/8 double winning side that took glory in the Champions League as well as pipping Chelsea to the Premier League title by 2 points. Other candidates considered were the impressive Arsenal invincibles of the 2003/4 season and Mourinho’s Chelsea of the 2005/6 season.

What do you think was the team of the decade individually and collectively? I suppose pretty much everyone will have a different starting XI as there is a plethora of options for every position. Post yours in the comments!
