United are famous for moving early in the transfer window and it looks like this season won’t be breaking any traditions. Having already wrapped up the signings of De Gea (to be announced at a later date) and Phil Jones looking all but set to join after a medical at Old Trafford yesterday, United look to be advancing the discussions with their 3rd signing of the summer season in Ashley Young. The 25-year old winger from Aston Villa has been strongly linked with a move to United but until now nothing has gone past speculation and rumours. Ashley Young has had great consistency for Aston Villa over the past 4 years with 38 goals and 60 assists in all competitions. Some may consider Young small fry in comparison to the names such as Sanchez which have been strongly linked but this signing does look more feasible, considering the preposterous prices that would be slapped on the heads of those from other leagues. I hope that if the Young deal does go through it doesn’t mean that United have ended their spending as we are still in dire need of a revamp in the centre of midfield but I am sure that SAF is well aware of the changes that need to be done. Ferguson may have said that United will be making 3 signings this summer but he never said that it would be only 3 and with Sunderland making a triple bid for O’Shea, Brown and Gibson, the movement in and out of Old Trafford this summer may be the busiest the club has ever had.
