Rooney: Sad to lose friends but exciting to have new team-mates

Wayne Rooney took some time out to speak exclusively to MUTV about all the movement that is happening in and out of Old Trafford this summer. Both Wes Brown and John O’Shea had been at the club throughout Rooney’s whole United career and although he is sad to see his long-time friends leave the club, he understands their desire to leave and is also excited with the new signings and is looking forward to getting to play alongside them:

“Of course it’s always sad when some of your team-mates leave, especially good friends as well. It’s sad but I understand as the two of them didn’t have much football last year, Wes particularly in the last couple of seasons. They’re ambitious footballers and want to play every week so I understand why they have left but I’m sad to lose them as players and friends as well.”
