O’Shea set to become Captain at Sunderland

It looks like big Sheasy will get what he has always had the accolade to do in a football team as ue is set to take the captain’s armband at Sunderland next season away from the unreliable Lee Cattermole. This is fantastic news and I am chuffed for him but it still hasn’t really sunk in that I won’t see O’Shea on the team-sheet next season because for as far as I can remember watching United, I remember watching O’Shea. I have nothing but fond memories of what he did for us at United and I hope that he can avoid injury and finish off his career in style at Sunderland. It seems like Steve Bruce has really pulled out the stops in this summer and Sunderland could even become a contender for a Europa League spot, especially if Brown and O’Shea strike up a partnership in the centre of defence at the Stadium of Light. We all knew the move was right for O’Shea (maybe not the club, given our track record at defensive injuries in recent years) to extend his career and I wish him all the best in his new skipper role.
