Manchester United’s Brazilian full-back, Fabio da Silva has today signed for Queens Park Rangers on a season long loan deal, which will see him return to Old Trafford in June 2013. The loan deal has been on the cards since Sir Alex Ferguson made the announcement in his match program notes last season. The Brazilian, who joined the Red Devils in 2008 with is twin, Rafael, from Brazilian club Fluminense, had also been linked with a loan deal to Benfica in Portugal.

Fabio will meet with his new team-mates next Monday when they report for pre-season training. It will be a good loan spell for him as long as he gets the required amount of games in order to get some first-team football under his belt, for him to develop for a possible long career at Old Trafford on the opposite flank to his twin.

Some see this is a problem loan seeing as Federico Macheda was loaned to the London outfit last season, which did not end very well, with the Italian striker returning to Manchester injured. Former Red Devil star striker, Mark Hughes, who manages the Loftus Road team, seems to think Fabio will be a hit for his team next season. Hughes told the Queens Park Rangers website “It’s a great opportunity for us to loan a good, young player, who has decent experience of playing for a top club like Manchester United. He’s played a lot of senior games for United, so it shows the quality he’s got. I know they think very highly of him and we believe he has all the attributes to be a success here next season.”

Fabio seems to be happy with his loan deal, as Sir Alex Ferguson told him it would be good for his development. He told Queens Park Rangers official website “This loan is so important for me in terms of my career. I want to play as many games as possible here. I want to play well and win games as well. It’s a good move for my career and for my confidence. Sir Alex Ferguson said that I’d enjoy it here and told me to play as many games as I can.” He added “I know that QPR is a club with great history. I read about the history and that’s why I’m here. I also came here because I’m ambitious. I want to help QPR progress up the Premier League. Hopefully the fans will enjoy watching me in action, because I’ll do my best.”

Queens Park Rangers first match of the new season will be at home to Swansea on Saturday 18th August (subject to change). Fabio will almost certainly be part of their pre season tour to Malaysia and Indonesia, where they will play Sabah XI on 17th July in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, Kelatan on 20th July in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Persebaya Surabaya in Surabaya, Indonesia.

We wish Fabio an injury free season, and hopefully he will come back to Old Trafford more confident in himself with the hunger to succeed Patrice Evra as the new left-back for what could be the last team which Sir Alex Ferguson will build for Manchester United.
