Manchester United’s injury worries look set to continue for at least the Fulham game this weekend after Sir Alex confirmed that no player is ready to return from injury so far.
New signings Alexander Buttner and Robin van Persie look set for a home debuts as well after Sir Alex confirmed that he will be using both players in the game.
Speaking at a press conference this morning, he said:”Phil Jones started training yesterday but tomorrow is too soon for him.
“Robin has had a few days training since Monday. It’s a home game and there’s every chance he could get a start.
“It’s pretty much the same as Monday night injury-wise. Alex will be involved tomorrow because he gives that back-up.
“Evra could actually play centre-back. He has done in the past. But I don’t think Alex will start tomorrow, I think he’ll be on the bench.” – Sir Alex Ferguson
Having Michael Carrick at centre back did not instil confidence into me but the thought of Patrice Evra defending Brede Hangeland on Saturday is not a happy one and Sir Alex is fully aware that Saturday will be anything but a walk over.
Speaking about the game on Saturday, Sir Alex said: “I went to see Fulham last Saturday and they played very well.
“They have a lot of experience in their team with six players over 30.
“We’re at home and we need to make an impact quickly after Monday’s game.”
The only positive out of that situation is that we will see Michael Carrick returning to his role in the centre of midfield as we desperately missed him against Everton and hopefully we will see our first three points of the season this weekend.
