Manchester United will kick start their Champions League tournament this year with a home fixture against Galatasaray. Having only won one out of three home games in the last campaign, we need to start this one off with a victory.

United may well have been given a favourable group but the trouble lies in the fact that we face some extremely tough Premier League fixtures on the weekend following some of our group stage matches.  We will play Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle and Arsenal all away from home either before or after our Champions League fixtures as well as a home fixture against City after our final group game against CFR Cluj.

Fortunately for United, we have a home fixture on the weekend following the trip to Galatasaray. That is sure to be the most hostile atmosphere of the away fixtures and with memories of ‘Welcome to Hell’ still fresh in his mind, Sir Alex will know all too well the challenge that lies ahead.

From the three homes games last year, we only took two points and although Sir Alex has promised that he will send out his strongest team to avoid a repeat of last years calamitous group stage, he will surely have one eye on the Premier League fixtures that follow.

Juggling the Champions League and the Premier League is the greatest test to any squad. We have brought in five new faces this year but with a midfield that still looks strikingly thin, there will come a time where we will be stretched to our absolute limits again this season.
