Phil Jones out for eight weeks after undergoing surgery

“Phil Jones has had surgery on a knee meniscus tear sustained in training that will require six to eight weeks of rehabilitation.”

Phil Jones hasn’t played a minute of football for United this season and he has suffered yet another set back after the club confirmed he has undergone surgery to repair an injury sustained in training.

United have been really short at the back with Smalling, Jones, Ferdinand and Evans all having been sidelined at one stage and our season has started with an almost traditional injury crisis.

It is a massive shame for Phil because he impressed massively in his debut season as a United player last year and would have hoped to use that as a springboard for this term.

He’s young so he should be able to recover from it without complications but if we suffer any more long term injuries in defence, we are going to have a genuine crisis on our hands once again.

Our new medical centre can’t come soon enough by the looks of it.
