Angelo Henriquez came to Old Trafford from Chilean outfit Universidad de Chile this summer in a deal estimated to be worth £3.5 million.
Speaking to Chilean radio station Radio Bio Bio, he was keen to emphasise that he realises the challenge ahead of himself.
He said: “I’m training and looking to get an opportunity.
“There are many things I have to improve to reach the level of Manchester United forwards.
“I won’t ask to be given some minutes and nor will I pretend I’m better than I really am.
“I have to go step by step. I have to adapt and improve physically.”
The 18-year-old has been on the books of the scouting team since an impressive trial when he was 14 and an excellent breakthrough season saw Sir Alex bring him to Old Trafford as soon as possible.
However, it won’t be easy for the South American to break into the United first team. Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, Javier Hernandez and Federico Macheda will all be vying for game time up front.
