Shinji Kagawa – The best is yet to come

Shinji Kagawa – The best is yet to come

The signing of Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund this summer was absolutely essential for Manchester United this year.

For seasons, we had relied on Wayne Rooney dropping deeper into the role to bridge the gap between midfield and attack but we now finally have a natural play maker to cut defences open.

Many people expected Shinji Kagawa to take time to settle into Premier League football but he has quickly emerged as a fantastic player with intelligent movement, passing and a natural ability to pick holes in the defence.

“Every match counts for me, so I have to show what I’ve got. I still feel I need to fit in more naturally with the team to show my qualities. But I don’t only want to play well – we have to win the games too.” Shinji Kagawa

He was rewarded for the bright start to his Manchester United career by winning the Player of Month award and speaking to Manutd.jp, he spoke of his delight at winning the award.

He said: “I am very happy to win the award. I will keep trying my best in every match, to express my style of play and to help the team win.

“We are expected to challenge for trophies this season, in particular the league title, and I am committed to contributing to that goal.”

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Shinji Kagawa will be fit to face Wigan tomorrow despite a niggle in his back and his long round trip to Japan during the international break.

It is a real boost that he is fit. Although Wigan should not pose too much of a problem considering our home record against them since 2005 is an aggregate score of 24-1, we have some tricky games ahead of us and none more so than away at Anfield next weekend.

With United’s defence starting to stabilise in terms of fitness, our team is shaping up well. The working partnership of Robin van Persie and Shinji Kagawa has brought some great fluidity and variety to our attack so far this season and hopefully it will continue tomorrow against Wigan.
