De Gea 6 David didn’t have much to do in the first half but his distribution left a lot to be desired with a lot of his kicks either finding the opposition or going out of play. Had his moment of the game with a brilliant double save from a Galatasaray counter-attack when having nothing to do. Great concentration from the Spaniard.
Rafael 7 He had a bit of an up and down game. For the first half, he was rough round the edges and got caught out of position on more than one occasion but luckily for United, it didn’t lead to anything. In the second half, he was much improved and even won Manchester United a penalty.
Vidic 7 A much improved game from captain Nemanja. He was back to his bullish best and kept Galatasaray at bay for the most of it. Ahead of Liverpool on Sunday, it was a good performance and definitely something for him to build upon.
Evans 6 A good return to the line up from Jonny. Alongside Nemanja, they looked pretty solid. Galatasaray’s good play rarely came through the middle. Amidst a jagged team performance, the two centre backs stayed pretty firm.
Evra 5 A poor performance from a player under the spotlight after Alexander Buttner’s performance against Wigan. Most of Galatasaray’s positive attacking play came through his side of the pitch. Although, he is likely to start against Liverpool as Buttner isn’t ready for that, so we better hope he improves.
Valencia 6 As usual, Valencia got himself into a fantastic crossing position on countless occasions but the final ball was lacking tonight. Although when he did whip in a great ball, there was nobody to get on the end of it. Not a bad game but far from his best. Saying that, his double nutmeg was my moment of the match.
Carrick MOTM 8 What a performance from Carrick. Goals, passing, tackles, positioning, interceptions, tackles – you name it, Carrick was there. It was the best performance I have seen from him in a long time
Scholes 6 Uncharacteristic performance from Scholes. Quite a few misplaced passes typified that. Was substituted for Darren Fletcher who made his return. Hopefully he will be fit for Liverpool on Sunday.
Nani 6 I thought Nani played pretty well tonight, all things considered. The overwhelming majority of our good play going forward came through his link up with Kagawa. More often than not, the key pass came from Nani. The penalty miss marred his game but he was creating plenty of chances.
Kagawa 7 Shinji seems to play with springs in his ankles. He glides across the pitch and tonight was no different. He looked very dangerous alongside Nani and he bagged the assist for Carrick’s goal. Saying that, he was guilty of some poor passing and wasn’t at his best tonight.
Van Persie 5 Robin van Persie seemed rather isolated tonight. He couldn’t really get a foothold on the game and was taken off for Hernandez towards the end of the second half.
