Manchester United injury crisis (again) – Vidic sidelined for two months

Manchester United injury crisis (again) – Vidic sidelined for two months have confirmed that Nemanja Vidic will be out of action for eight weeks after undergoing surgery on a meniscus operation on his right knee.

The following statement has been officially released by the club:

“Nemanja Vidic has had a meniscus operation on his right knee and will be out for around eight weeks.

“Sir Alex, as a precautionary measure, rested Vidic at the weekend, after he complained of tightness in his knee, however, further medical investigation revealed the underlying problem.

“The central defender was operated on this week and will be sidelined for about eight weeks.”

So that puts Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Nemanja Vidic all down as long term injuries. We’ve now got Jonny Evans and Rio Ferdinand as our only two senior central defenders. Injury crisis.

Thank god Evans and Ferdinand are fit but we are now stretched as far as we can go. Ferdinand can’t really play more than one game a week, so we are likely to see Michael Carrick playing there once again at some point. Humbug.

Stay fit Rio and Jonny, please.
