Nick Powell paid a visit to his old club Crewe Alexandra this weekend to pick up his Northwest League Two Player of the Year award.

Last season, Powell scored 16 goals in 45 appearances for the League Two outfit including a stunning goal that helped Crewe win the Play-off final at Wembley. It was a super season for the youngster who secured a move to Manchester United off the back of it – and he hasn’t looked back since.

He’s made an impressive start to his career at Old Trafford and has already made his Premier League and Champions League debuts including a fine performance away to Galatasaray where he played the full 90 minutes. With qualification already secure, it is likely that we will see Powell play against FC Cluj this Wednesday too.

You have to remember that Nick Powell is only 18. It’s easy to forget when you watch him play because he is so composed and mature on the ball. His touch is already way beyond his years and with Sir Alex already throwing a Paul Scholes comparison at him, it’s easy to see that he is held in high esteem at Old Trafford after only being there for a few months and he certainly has the potential to make a name for himself at Manchester United.
