Robin van Persie was named Manchester United’s Player of the Month in December after a fantastic month for the Dutchman.
Speaking with Manutd.com about the award, he was keen to praise the fans and the team for their hard work rather than concentrate on his personal successes.
He said: “It’s always nice to be recognised by the fans. I have settled into the club quite quickly and I am really enjoying playing in this team. I would like to thank the fans for all their support.
“It’s not all about scoring goals, but obviously that does help. It’s great that so many players have scored goals over the season so far.
“December is always a difficult month and I feel we have come through this period as we wanted to and hopefully we can now push on for the rest of the season.”
With 20 goals and six assists in just 26 appearances, van Persie is only three goals away from van Nistelrooy’s first season haul of 23 goals in 32 appearances.
The Dutchman’s impact has rippled through the club like a seismic wave of enthusiasm and it has rubbed off on everybody. It was easy to see how world class van Persie was at Arsenal but so much easier to appreciate now that he is in the red of United.
