Last night, Twitter was alive with the rumour that Wilfried Zaha had tweeted the not so cryptic message that he was on his way “to the top of the Premier League” before swiftly deleting it, but he has tweeted today denying it.
On Twitter today, Zaha said: “I don’t know remember tweeting no such thing so I don’t know where the tweet came from.”
National papers including The Mirror ran the story which only goes to show the power of a rumour on Twitter, especially during any transfer window.
Although Ferguson was quick to distance himself from any transfers including the likes of Lampard, Cole and Zaha by calling the rumours “nonsense”, a move for Zaha wouldn’t be unsurprising from United with Mike Phelan in attendance for Crystal Palace’s 1-0 defeat to Burnley this weekend more than likely to watch Zaha’s performance.
The 20-year-old is the talk of the January transfer window and Ian Holloway seems to have conceded he will be leaving but only on Crystal Palace’s terms that he is loaned back to them for the rest of the season.
