Real Madrid get El Clasico moved to earlier kick-off due to United match

Real Madrid have had their second application to move the El Clasico accepted according to reports emerging from Spain.

AS are saying that the El Clasico, traditionally a game played in the evening, will kick off at 16:00 on Sunday 3 March so as to give Real Madrid extra rest ahead of their trip to Manchester the following Tuesday.

Jaume Roures, the president of MediaPro, said the game will “almost certainly” kick-off earlier than previously scheduled.

Speaking on Catalan radio, Roures said: “A Real Madrid-Barcelona game at 16:00 sounds perfect to me.

“The audience for Barcelona-Getafe (which kicked off at 12:00 on Sunday) was larger than for Real Madrid-Sevilla (which began at 22:00).

“We have tried to get Madrid-Barça to be played at 12:00 but it’s very difficult, not for any particular reason, but because they [the two clubs] will not listen.

“They say that it is not a good time to play football, but it has been proved that it is.”

The move from the Spanish LFA comes after they rejected Real Madrid’s initial proposal to move the fixture to Saturday. Mourinho is desperate to give his players as long as possible to rest ahead of the crucial return leg against United at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have a home kick-off against Norwich at 15:00 on Saturday 2 March and it will give us that extra time to recover ahead of what is going to be the biggest Champions League game at Old Trafford in years. Bring it on.
