Michael Keane scored the first goal of his senior career tonight for Leicester in their FA Cup replay with Huddersfield.
It wasn’t enough for the Foxes as they were defeated 2-1 but it is another milestone in what has been a great 12 months for Keane.
“It’s still a steep learning curve for he has done exceptionally well so far and I am very pleased.” Nigel Pearson, Leicester City manager
The 20-year-old defender made his second appearance for the senior squad in their victory over Newcastle in the Capital One Cup alongside fellow academy graduate Scott Wootton. He also played in the thrilling 5-4 defeat to Chelsea in the same competition during the next round.
He is now a regular starter for Leicester City and has earned the plaudits of manager and fellow players including Paul Konchesky who said he was “one of the best” defenders he had seen at his age.
With first team football now on the cards for Keane, United fans will all be hoping that he can have a successful push with Leicester who currently sit in the play-off places in the Championship. The earlier he gets the feeling of winning a major trophy, the better he can become as a player.
