Ferguson confirms Robin van Persie hip injury

Robin van Persie sustained an injured hip today in Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over QPR at Loftus Road.

Speaking straight after the victory against QPR, Ferguson confirmed that van Persie was complaining about a sore hip and that it will be assessed in the morning. Ferguson is hopeful that Van Persie will be OK in time for Real Madrid’s visit on March 5.

He said: “He collided into a camera in a dug out. He has a sore hip… but hopefully he’ll be alright.”

Robin van Persie injured his hip in a clash with the cameraman in the build up to Rafael’s screamer that put Manchester United 1-0 up against QPR.

He was replaced by Welbeck before half-time but it may well have just been precautionary given the fact that he jogged to bench rather than walked, and sat with the team in the dugout instead of going straight down the tunnel.

He has shown his importance to the side this season and an injury before the run-in would be a massive blow to United’s treble hopes in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.

The Peoples Person will bring you the latest updates on Robin van Persie’s injury as soon as more information is released.
