Sir Alex Ferguson has an eye for Dutch players. Jaap Stam was a great buy  and so was Ruud van Nistelrooy. Edwin van der Sar was the keeper that made the Manchester-faithful forget about Peter Schmeichel and as a stand-in, Raimond van der Gouw had always been very solid.

From that perspective, it was hardly surprising to see Ferguson go Dutch once again in the summer of 2012. Few will argue that the best buy for Manchester United this summer is of Dutch origin.
