Vidic: I feel something very special for Manchester United

by Tom Parker

As a mainstay of the Manchester United defence since his arrival from Spartak Moscow in 2005, Nemanja Vidic has been a key figure in one of the most successful eras in the clubs history and can lay claim to four Premier League winners medals as well as a Champions League winners medal.

The 31-year-old Serbian has also collected a wealth of personal honours during his United career including two Premier League Player of the Season awards as well as being recognised within the club on numerous occasions.

The hard-as-nails centre back has become synonymous with United and captain Nemanja has recently admitted he still feels “blessed” to play for United.

“It’s brought me huge enjoyment and the opportunity to express myself on what’s probably the biggest stage in football,” Vidic told Inside United.

“I feel blessed to play for this club and I learn things every day. I’ve been at United for seven-and-a-half years. I can’t deny I feel something very special.”

Since his return from a crippling knee injury suffered against FC Basel in 2011, Vidic has made 19 appearances this season despite suffering from another knee injury which side-lined the skipper him for two months.

Vidic has been back to his best and has been the assured, experienced and gritty figure that United perhaps lacked in last year’s title run-in when the Serbian was ruled out with a season-ending injury. You only have to look at the fact that United have kept six Premier League clean sheets in a row for evidence of that.

The full Vidic interview is available in this month’s Inside United magazine.
