Robin van Persie has thanked Sir Alex Ferguson for an amazing year in which he secured his first ever Premier League medal.
The 29-year-old Dutchman only got to work with Ferguson for one year before he retired but it was a special season for both of them with van Persie’s 25 goals in the league giving Ferguson the perfect send off.
I have to thank him for an amazing year and for making my dream come true by winning the league. Van Persie
And it meant a lot to van Persie who ended an eight year personal crusade to win the Premier League.
“He is a great manager and above all even a greater person. I have to thank him for an amazing year and for making my dream come true by winning the league. I wish him and his family the very best.”
Van Persie joins a host of current and ex-players in publicly praising Ferguson including Hernandez after the Mexican said it had been an honour to work with the 71-year-old before he finally hung up his hairdryer.
Everybody has been effusive in their praise of Ferguson after he officially announced he was ending his 27 year reign as United manager even those who he fell out with including Ruud van Nistelrooy and David Beckham – a testament to just how special a man he was.

The era is finally over but it is going to take a long time for it to really settle in and Sunday’s match against Swansea is going to be extremely emotional, especially when Ferguson takes to the microphone for the last time as manager.
