Manchester United have tonight won the U21s Barclays Premier League after a thrilling 3-2 comeback against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.
After going into half time 2-0 down, Warren Joyce’s side came out in the second half and put in a brilliant display including a double from Larnell Cole including a dramatic winner late on.
It means that the last game of the Ferguson era is his U21s winning the title with a dramatic comeback at Old Trafford. How fitting.
The U21s have done incredibly well to win the title given that they have not had a recognised striker since January and Adnan Januzaj put in a a fantastic performance isolated up top despite it not being his natural position.
It means that David Moyes will walk into a Manchester United with the champions of the Premier League, champions of the U21s Premier League and the fourth best U18s team in the country.
This team of youngsters really know what winning is all about with tonight’s victory securing a double for the U21s after winning the Manchester Senior Cup by default.
Last year, the U21s won the treble and the 2011 FA Youth Cup prior to that. Winning trophies is something that they have all got used to at a very young age and that is a characteristic that will help them progress with the right mentality.
