Bruno Gomes is still holding out hope of securing a move to Manchester United in the near future.
The 16-year-old Brazilian spent time training at Carrington and has not hidden his desire to move to Old Trafford on Twitter where he regularly speaks his mind and interacts with United fans.
“He is a typical number 9, he doesn’t have fantastic technique (although isn’t inept either), but his positioning is fantastic, as is his finishing ability, and his acceleration isn’t bad either.” Paulo Freitas, Sky’s Brazilian Football Expert
And last night, he admitted that the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson may affect his chances of moving but he is still holding out hope of securing his dream move.
“My friends with the changes in the club, still do not know if I will sign with the Reds, let’s wait! Thanks for your love for me!!!,” he said on Twitter.
“My friends, I dream of wearing a red shirt since 2011, of course I want to make history as 1st Brazilian top score of the premier league!!!”
And he recently competed in two tournaments in Europe where he scored five goals in six games. He finds goalscoring easy. There is always room for a youngster like that at Old Trafford but with offers for Gomes already from Europe, there is nothing concrete as of yet from United so he may well move elsewhere.
The 16-year-old is starting to be recognised for his hard work and has tonight been summoned to play for Brazil’s U17s in the World Cup between July 1-13 as his fine season continues.
He has been enjoying the attention from United fans over the past few months on Twitter and with a busy summer ahead for both Gomes and United, there will be plenty of time for fans to continue to get to know him.
To learn a bit more about him, The Peoples Person exclusively sat down with Gomes back in December to have a chat about his ambitions, who his favourite United player is and to find out what kind of footballer he is.
