Inter’s Guarin ruled out of Manchester United move by agent

Fredy Guarin’s agent has played down speculation linking his client to a move to Manchester United this summer.

The 26-year-old midfielder joined Inter in January 2012 but after the Italian outfit missed out on European competition, rumours have grown that Guarin could be on the way out.

Guarin enjoyed an impressive first full season with Inter, scoring 10 and assisting 12 in 47 appearances, but according to his representative Marcelo Ferreyra, the Colombian will remain at the San Siro next season and is keen on staying with Inter.

“He wants to stay at Inter,” Ferreyra told FcInterNews. “He is happy here and wants to become a champion with those colours.

“Manchester United, Tottenham and Anzhi are not part of our plans.

“We are not interested in going to another club as my client wants to win with the Inter shirt.”

As The Peoples Person said back in 2011, Guarin looks the real deal but he is just yet another midfielder that has been publicly associated with a move to United. Hopefully it is an indication that we are genuinely in the market for a central signing this year.

Reports have persistently linked Kevin Strootman and Thiago Alcantara to United, but Guarin could be seen as an alternative to the imposing Dutchman.

Guarin is more experienced, appearing in a European final for Inter and the Colombian international has the physical qualities which many feel are deficient in the current crop of midfielders on the books.

A deal seems unlikely, especially after the player’s agent flatly denied speculation, but with David Moyes understandably keen to put his stamp on things at the club, illustrated by his re-jigging of the backroom staff, perhaps it would be unwise to completely write a move for Guarin off.
