Nani negotiating personal terms with Monaco claim reports

Nani was in talks with Monaco over a move to the South of France according to L’Equipe and today, reports suggest that he is negotiating personal terms.

A fee of £14 million has been touted for the Portuguese winger and with Monaco’s big budget, Nani’s high wages of £7 million a year would be affordable.

And given that Monaco is a principality, lower taxes would mean a higher fee for both Nani and his agent Jorge Mondes.

One of Mendes’ other players Radamel Falcao has already made the move to Monaco so there is certainly logic behind him moving to Monaco but should United really be letting Nani go?

There are few players who split opinion as much as Nani. On his day, he is a world beater but that day isn’t seen as often as fans would like.

If United were to let Nani go for £14 million, would they be able to bring in an adequate replacement for that price? Questionable. Some may point towards the promotion of Januzaj and Lingard to replace him but they aren’t ready to compete at the highest level yet.

Nani only has one year left on his United contract and the risk of not selling him would be that we could lose him on a Bosman transfer next year and not recoup any of the €25 million paid for him back in 2007.

This season, Nani knows he would have a fresh start at Old Trafford under David Moyes and if the Portuguese winger can regularly put in world class performances, United would be better for it.
