Manchester United are lining up a €30 million offer for Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio according to Corriere Dello Sport.
The 27-year-old has been touted as an alternative to Cesc Fabregas with United’s pursuit of the Spanish midfielder still currently ongoing.
Marchisio has been with Juventus since 1993 having spent his youth career with the Old Lady and established himself as a key member of their title winning side.
A tough tackler, Marchisio would add a real grit to United’s midfield that many fans feel the side has been missing for many years.
Previously, Marchisio admitted he would be proud if an offer from United came in and said he would look away from Juventus if he didn’t feel important for their team.
“I will have to talk to Juventus. I want to see if I’m still important for them,” he said.
“If not, then it is only normal for me to look at other teams. It has been said that my intentions are decisive, but it takes two to tango.
“Eventual offers from Manchester United or Monaco make me proud, but nobody has called me.
“Now I am focusing on the Confederations Cup and after that I’ll understand what’s real and what isn’t.”
The emergence of Paul Pogba last year has added real competition for places in Juventus’ midfield and if Marchisio feels that his importance in Turin has diminished, he could be tempted to look elsewhere.
