Manchester United open Cristiano Ronaldo talks with Real Madrid confirms ex-president

Real Madrid’s ex president Ramon Calderon has confirmed that Manchester United have held talks with Real Madrid over the potential return of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Earlier this week, Calderon said that Madrid’s pursuit of Gareth Bale was in preparation for Ronaldo’s exit from the Santiago Bernabeu.

And speaking to Sky Sports, Calderon has said that United are interested in the possibility of bringing Ronaldo home.

“It seems that Manchester United are interested in having him back,” he said.

“I know there have been talks where they have expressed interest.”

Yesterday, the Daily Star stated that United were in advanced talks over Ronaldo’s return with nothing but speculation to back up their claims.

However, Calderon’s confirmation is the first official quote that has linked United with a sensational swoop for Ronaldo and given that Bale looks likely to move to Madrid, there are going to be plenty of Ronaldo rumours this summer from now on.
