Ezequiel Garay has flatly denied widespread speculation over an impending move to Manchester United with a £20 million transfer being mooted by various media outlets throughout the summer.
But the 26-year-old has denied having any official contact with United over a move. Speaking to the Daily Star, Garay said: “I am tired of the rumours.
“I am just focused on Benfica and I will keep working hard. I have heard nothing official from United.”
Many United fans remain torn over Garay with a section of supporters insistent money could be better spent elsewhere, especially with the cracks in the midfield area almost chasm-like in size.
What is not in question is the ability of the Argentinian centre-half. He has often been likened to Rio Ferdinand in terms of playing style and with Rio approaching the end of a glittering career, a move could make sense.
But Garay’s latest quotes on his future do suggest a move is rather unlikely with just three weeks of the transfer window remaining.
