United striker unsure if he will stay in Manchester this season

Angelo Henriquez has expressed his joy over scoring on his Manchester United debut but admitted he is not sure whether he will be spending the season 2013/14 season at the club.

The 19-year-old found the net on his first senior appearance for United against AIK Fotboll last week, guiding home a low cross from Wilfried Zaha but was coy on his Old Trafford future when speaking in interviews to 24 Horas and Terra while on international duty with Chile.

“I’m not sure if I’ll stay,” Henriquez said.

“We must wait this week to see what will happen. If I do not play in England, I see other options but what I want now is to play and have a chance in the national team.

“I was pleased with my goal [in Stockholm]. It was the time for the coach to get to know me and I took advantage.”

Henriquez may struggle to break through into United’s first teamthis season with Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck ahead of the talented youngster in the pecking order at the club.

Another loan move could be profitable after a disappointing spell with Wigan Athletic last term where he failed to make a lasting impact and was only used sparingly as the Latics faltered in the Premier League.

After impressing during the U20 World Cup, Henriquez is understandably keen to represent Chile in the 2014 World Cup should they qualify. Despite a goal on his senior international debut, his place in the squad is far from secure so it is unsurprising to see him agitating for first team action this season – whether he’ll get that at United is doubtful.
