Mesut Ozil decision shows where David Moyes’ priorities lie

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United have been in contact with Real Madrid over the possible transfer of either Mesut Ozil according to ESPN

But the Daily Mail has claimed that United have turned down the chance to sign Ozil or Willian in order to concentrate on strengthening the midfield rather than bringing in another winger.

While it would no doubt bring a new dimension to the squad, a winger is certainly not the priority for David Moyes this summer.

Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young and Nani may have had poor seasons last year but the introduction of Wilfried Zaha along with the rise of Adnan Januzaj and Jesse Lingard means that United are well stacked in the winger department. The injection of youthful enthusiasm should be the tonic that our lacking wingers needed to improve  their performances.

While neither Januzaj or Lingard are ready for first team action yet, United fans would rather see the traditional promotion of youth through to the first team continue under Moyes and the signs in pre-season have suggested that will be the case.

We all know that the priority for Moyes is a top class midfielder and with Moyes confirming that United are in for several players this summer, there is plenty of optimism within United fans that he may be able to finally be able to revive United’s lacklustre midfield.
