Manchester United are ready to reignite their interest in Mesut Ozil according to German newspaper Bild.
The 24-year-old is reportedly worried about how much game time he will get at Real Madrid this season ahead of the impending Gareth Bale signing.
Josep Pedrerol, a Spanish journalist from Punto Pelota, believes that a €45-50 million bid for Ozil will happen either today or tomorrow.
“We have already reported that Real Madrid in the next ten days will receive a range of 45 to 50 million for a major player,” he said.
“The offer is now coming Thursday or Friday. It is a top player who wants to be there at the World Cup. He thinks that his position is in danger due to the transfer of Bale and that he secures his World Cup participation with his move. If the offer takes it real. “
United were strongly linked with a £12 million move for Ozil back in 2010 before he joined Real Madrid and since moving to Spain, Ozil has fast become one of the best play makers on the planet but paying over triple what he was available for just three years ago would be a bitter pill for United’s board to swallow.
While it would be a great signing on paper, Ozil operates in a position where United’s squad is already strong. Shinji Kagawa is an extremely similar player to him and given that he hasn’t been given an opportunity by David Moyes yet, it would be strange for us to break the clubs transfer record to bring in another diminutive playmaker.
United have far bigger prerogatives than buying a play maker this summer. Moyes has today admitted that United may not sign anybody this summer but with ten days left in the transfer window, there is still time for the Scot to bring a midfielder in.
