Manchester United send striker to Spain

by Tom Parker

Manchester United have announced the departure of Angelo Henriquez on a season long loan to Real Zaragoza in Spain’s Segunda division.

The 19-year-old will now stay in Spain until June 2014 as he looks to force his way into Chile’s senior squad, a feat unlikely while featuring for the reserves at United.

Henriquez, a former Universidad De Chile striker, scored in United’s final pre-season friendly against AIK Fotbol earlier this month and found the net for the U21s against West Brom in midweek but will now head off to the Liga Segunda for the 2013/14 season.

It is a real coup for Zaragoza who were relegated to the second tier in Spain last year and it is hoped the young striker can make a real impact in his stay. He certainly has the talent to score goals regularly at this level.

Henriquez was paraded in front of the La Romareda faithful yesterday and met his new team mates ahead of this weekend’s fixture against Barcelona B.

The Peoples Person will keep you up to date with Henriquez and the rest of United’s loan stars throughout the year.
