Roma coach Rudi Garcia has reiterated his belief that Daniele De Rossi will stay at Roma despite interest from other clubs.
Manchester United reportedly had a €12 million offer for De Rossi rejected yesterday as David Moyes continues to try and bring in reinforcements to the midfield before Monday.
But De Rossi, who has been at Roma his whole professional, will not be moving to Old Trafford according to Garcia.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of Roma’a game against Verona, Garcia said: “Daniele de Rossi isn’t only a big player, but he’s also a big man.
“He has been here at Roma for a long time and he wants to play with this jersey.
“We spoke when he came back from his holidays and we said that, if it got past a certain date, he would certainly remain with us.
“He will stay here for the whole season and this is something that satisfies me a lot.”
By the sounds of it, if United had moved earlier in the summer then Roma would have let him go which is a real shame given that the 30-year-old could offer some real grit to our midfield.
De Rossi was one of three midfielders alongside Herrera and Fellaini who are linked with a move to United before the end of the transfer window but his desire to stay in Italy means that David Moyes’ options are quickly running out.
