Manchester United representatives have confirmed that they are not interested in signing Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid.
The 24-year-old is believed to be surplus to requirements in Real Madrid after the Spanish club completed the world record signing of Gareth Bale last night.
Sir Alex Ferguson was a known admirer of Ozil but failed to sign him in 2010 when he joined Madrid in a €15 million deal but it seems that United are not interested in signing him.
Ozil is a world class player but would he really be the sort of individual United need to be spending €50 million on this summer?

David Moyes already has two world class attacking midfielders who operate in the #10 role in Wayne Rooney and Shinji Kagawa. The Japanese playmaker was left out of the travelling squad to face Liverpool despite being fully fit with Moyes choosing to take Nani and it is an indication of his preference for natural wingers rather than archetypal playmakers.
While Ozil would no doubt be a fantastic addition to the squad, it would strengthen an area we already have depth and talent.
